What is 4-H County Activity Day?

This is our 4-H presentation program where youth are able to learn about a new topic, develop a presentation, and utilize public speaking skills at the County, District, and sometimes state-level competitions. This is a great way for our youth to develop effective communication skills and techniques provide them with skills that will last a lifetime. Presentations also allow 4-Hers to explore an area that is of interest to them. I will be happy to help anyone decide on a topic, develop their presentation, and help with their recordings.

What are the rules?

This year, things are a bit different. Instead of presenting in person, youth will record and upload a video of themselves – see rules below. The competition is open to youth ages 8-18, where they will deliver a 5-12 minute presentation on a topic of their choice. Youth ages 5-7 can also participate by presenting a 2-4 minute presentation. Winners at County Day will proceed on to District Competition on June 25, 2020 (also virtual). The winners at District Activity Day are invited to compete at the state level later in July.

Take a look at the NC 4-H Presentation Homepage.

2020 Video Rules

  • Videos must be single cut – do not do several recordings and splice them together. SINGLE CUT ONLY – just as if youth are presenting live.
  • Judges must be able to see youth doing their presentations – not just a PowerPoint or poster.
  • Videos can not be bigger than 10GB – smaller is better
  • Videos must be .mp4 file format or .mov as these are universal and we should be able to open them easily.

Do not send links to the video (including YouTube). Please upload the video directly in the Google site. This will be sent to you directly after you register.
