Alamance County 4-H had three youth participate in the Spring NC 4-H Forestry Contest held May 7th at Schenck Memorial Forest in Raleigh. Team members were Noah Snyder, Aedyn Snyder, and Kenzi Riley.
The contest consisted of 5 parts. Participants have to identify 25 trees, 10 insects and 10 diseases. They also have to identify and measure the diameter at breast height and the height in 16 ft logs for 15 trees. This contest typically also contains compass traverse, but due to inclement weather, this was removed.
The team placed 2nd in the state. Congratulations guys!
