Ready NC dot gov image Plan Prepare Stay InformedEven though the hurricane season seemed to be light this year, we are seeing storms coming in and even affecting our WNC mountain area. There are state resources that can help you prepare for disasters like storms, flooding and power outages. Here are a few that you may want to keep bookmarked or print off information in case you find yourself caught in a disaster. This information can also be helpful for power outages from heavy thunderstorms and winter snow storms.

First – if you don’t have a plan, you should create one for your family. Every household needs an emergency plan to know where you will go if you have to evacuate, and how you will communicate. it’s important to know how you’ll reconnect if separated. At Ready NC Plan form you can create a Family Emergency Communication Plan, which you can email as a PDF file once complete.

The Ready NC site has a lot of information that can be useful in preparing for emergencies such as natural disasters. It is a good idea to have an emergency financial plan and have copies of important documents. Financial and document Plan  Ready NC also has ways to sign up for alerts and updates so that you can stay informed when a disaster may be occurring.
