Join us for 7th Annual Piedmont Regional Beef Conference on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Guilford County Center in Greensboro, NC. This year’s conference will feature cattle handling expert, Dr. Ron Gill from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Dr. Deidre Harmon from NCSU Extension. Participants will have the opportunity to learn cattle handling and stockmanship skills as well as fescue pasture establishment and renovation techniques through classroom and demonstration sessions. There will also be a trade show featuring many industry partners that offer feed, equipment, seed, fertilizer, cattle services, animal health, and more. You will not want to miss this event!! Med Instead of Meds is a six week course created by a group of nutrition and health professionals from NC State University and NC Division of Public Health. Eating the "Med Way" has been proven to protect against chronic illness.

Each class will include a presentation, hands-on food demo, and tasting (equivalent to a small meal). There will be a registration fee of $25 to cover the cost of ingredients and materials. Registration may be paid prior to or on the first day of class with cash or check (made out to "Alamance County" with "Med Instead of Meds" in the memo section). Scholarships are available to cover the registration fee if needed, contact Eleanor to inquire.

Join us for an exciting horse workshop ALL ABOUT HAY! The Horse Owner Workshop will take place on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Heritable Stables located at 6343 Beale Rd. Snow Camp, NC. Check-in will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the program will start at 6:00 p.m. and run until 8:00 p.m. Topics will include hay evaluation, tips for buying hay, hay and horse diets, storing hay properly, rotational grazing, and a 4-H horse judging demonstration. This is a workshop that all horse enthusiasts should get excited about! There will be visual exercises, demonstrations, and more shown on a working horse farm. Space is limited to the first 25 participants and pre-registration is required by April 25th.
