Join other K-8 classroom and nonformal educators as we explore activities in the Project Learning Tree K-8 Curriculum Guide. Every participant will leave the workshop with the PLT K-8 Activity Guide which includes 96 activities correlated to the NC Standard Course of Study and Essential Standards. The PLT activity guides are provided free of charge to participants through support from the NC Forestry Association. CEU renewal credits are available. This workshop qualifies for Criteria I in the EE Certification Program.
Differentiated instruction? Technology connections? Literature links? STEM? The PLT activity guide covers it all!!! The PreK-8 guide is correlated to the Common Core (math and ELA) as well as to the NC Essential Standards (science and social studies). Participants will learn about the materials through direct engagement in the PLT activities throughout the workshop. Please bring a bag lunch and prepare to be outside!
Please make a personal commitment to attend to ensure there are enough materials and space for everyone. Parking directions will be sent prior to the workshop. Cancellations made by October 17th will receive a $10 refund. Cancellations after this date will not receive a refund.

There will be an interest meeting held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Agriculture Building Auditorium located at 209-C N. Graham-Hopedale Rd. Burlington, NC. The primary focus of this meeting is to inform interested families of how 4-H livestock projects work and about our main livestock show, the Central Piedmont Jr. Livestock Show in April held in Hillsborough, NC (as well as other show opportunities). Information will be presented on animal project selection, animal care, how to register for the show, show rules, how to complete a project record book, and much more!

This course is designed for food employees who are seeking food protection manager certification. Certification is based on passing the ANSI-approved exam from the National Registry for Food Safety Professionals. Certification is accepted throughout the US for 5 years from date of exam, and includes a certificate to be displayed in the workplace as well as a wallet card.
Class dates: November 5 and 6, 9am until 4pm each day with one-hour lunch break each day
Test date: November 7, 9am - 12noon
Registration Fee $125
Cost includes instruction, Safe Plates book & slides, 3 practice exams, and final exam
