Are you a high school student curious about plants, gardens, and the science behind growing things? The Horticultural Science Summer Institute (HSSI) at NC State University is a one-week, residential, hands-on pre-college program designed to open the door to exciting careers in horticulture and plant sciences.

Participants dive into interactive workshops, from plant breeding and propagation to sustainable production and design; visit innovative farms, gardens, and greenhouses, and explore college pathways while building leadership skills and lifelong connections.

Whether you’re dreaming of discovering new genes, grafting tomatoes, or figuring out how to make flowers last longer, HSSI helps you grow a passion into possibilities!

HSSI dates: July 5-10

Application deadline: April 1
