As an EFNEP Educator, she serve as a community-based instructor for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program, a joint initiative of the NC State University and NC A&T State University Cooperative Extensions. Teaches the benefits of nutrition, food, food safety and physical activity to limited resource audiences. Teaching practical skills such as nutritious meal preparation, smart grocery shopping on a budget, and food safety practices. The primary audiences for EFNEP are limited resource: Pregnant women Families with young children (under the age of 19) living in either rural or urban areas who are responsible for the planning, purchasing and preparing of the family’s food Pregnant and Parenting Teens School-age youth (5 – 19 years of age) PROGRAMS Families Eating Smart and Moving More (FESMM) The Adult component of the program utilizes a curriculum developed collaboratively with the Division of Public Health, Nutrition Services Branch and Physical Activity and Nutrition Branch and NC State University called, EFNEP’s Families Eating Smart and Moving More (FESMM). Fuel for Life Fuel for Life is grounded in the Social Cognitive Theory and Theory of Planned Behavior. The program focuses on mindful movement, mindful eating, goal setting, and food preparation skills.
