Collapse ▲The Alamance County 4-H Shooting Sports Club attended their first competition, the Central Region 4-H Shooting Sports Contest, on Saturday, August 19th. The competition was held at Millstone 4-H Center and the Lentz Hunter Education Complex in Ellerbe, NC.
The club had 8 members compete in both Rifle and Archery disciplines. We had two junior teams and two senior individuals.
Junior Team A competed in Compound Archery and Open Sight Rifle. The team placed 8th in Rifle and 8th in Archery. Team members were Kaleb Porterfield, Hutch Robertson and Memphis Pendergraft. In Archery, Hutch scored a 145 out of 200 points.
Junior Team B competed in Compound Archery and Telescopic Rifle. The team placed 6th in Archery and 10th in Rifle. Team members were Genevieve Aarden, Jude Aarden, and Rose Sudderth. Rose scored 169 out of 200 points in Archery.
In the Senior division, Carissa Gaines and Sage Robertson competed as individuals. Carissa competed in Compound Archery and Telescopic Rifle. Sage competed in Compound Archery and Open Sight Rifle.
Shooting a score of 200 out of 300 points in Rifle, Sage qualified for the State 4-H Shooting Sports contest September 30th. Carissa earned a score of 186 out of 200 in Archery, securing her sport at the State 4-H Shooting Sports contest as well.
