Collapse ▲The Alamance County 4-H Shooting Sports Club attended the 2024 Central Region Shooting Sports competition at Millstone 4-H Center on August 17th. 17 members competed in 3 different disciplines- archery, shotgun, and rifle.
In the Junior age category (ages 8-13), we had two teams and seven individuals. Team A members were Jude Aarden, Memphis Pendergraft, and Jacob Farrell. Team A competed in shotgun, telescopic rifle and compound archery.
Team B members were Tyler Farrell, Brayden Palmer and Samuel Ramsey. They competed in shotgun, telescopic rifle and compound archery.
Individuals were Avery Palmer, Genevieve Aarden, Hutch Robertson, Emmy Kernodle, Kaleb Porterfield, Jesse Wood, and Sylvia Travers. Avery and Genevieve competed in telescopic rifle and compound archery. Hutch, Kaleb and Jesse competed in shotgun and open sight rifle. Hutch also competed in compound archery. Emmy and Sylvia competed in recurve archery.
In the Senior age category (ages 14-18), we had four individuals. Luna Aarden and Sage Robertson competed in open sight rifle and compound archery. Sage also competed in shotgun. Rose Sudderth competed in shotgun, telescopic rifle and compound archery. Felix competed in recurve archery.
We walked away with several top 10 placings in all three disciplines. However only top 5 individuals and top 3 teams qualify to compete at the State competition. 3 of our members did qualify for States- Jesse Wood for shotgun and open sight rifle, Sylvia Travers for recurve archery, and Felix Travers also for recurve archery.
