Alamance Gardener Training

The Alamance Gardner Training course is designed to give home gardeners a deeper dive into horticultural topics. This six-week training will leave you with an advanced level of understanding and skills that you can apply to your own gardens and landscapes. Topics covered include Botany, Soils, Ornamentals, Vegetables, Insects, Lawns, and more.

At the end of the six weeks you will receive a certificate of completion. As a certificate course, you must enroll for all six classes and attend all six to receive the certificate.

The fee for this training is $20 which will cover the materials used in class. You may not pay for single classes in this course. The registration fee is due at the beginning of the first class. The fee may be paid by cash or check at that time.

The training begins on February 11, 2026 and is held every Wednesday, 9 a.m. to noon, through March 18, 2026 at the Alamance County Cooperative Extension office. The office is located at 209-C N. Graham-Hopedale Road in Burlington, NC.

The Alamance Gardener Training also serves as the pre-requisite for the Extension Master Gardener℠ (EMG) volunteer training for Alamance County . However, you may not take both sets of classes if you do not wish to become a volunteer with the Master Gardener program. Click here if you would like to learn more about the EMGV program in Alamance County.

Applications for the Alamance Gardener Training will be accepted until January 21, 2026. The application is a google form that can be found here. Once you’ve submitted your application you will hear back by January 30, 2026. If you wish to become an Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteer, you do not need to fill out an Alamance Gardener Training application; just fill out the EMG application. If you aren’t sure yet, go ahead with the Alamance Gardener Training and you will have another opportunity to submit an EMG application.
